About the artist

Hi, I'm Beverly.

I'm a contemporary artist with a love for colour, texture and expressive mark-making. My work is inspired by the beauty, emotion and stories found in everyday life, and I aim to create artwork that brings warmth, joy and a little spark of happiness into the spaces where it lives.

Creativity has always been part of who I am, but like many people, life had other plans for a while. Bringing up my children kept me busy, and before I knew it, the dream of becoming an artist had been tucked away for nearly 30 years.

Then something changed.

I decided it was time to stop saying "one day" and start saying "why not now?"

What started as picking up a paintbrush again quickly turned into a complete love affair with art. I fell in love not just with painting itself, but with the whole creative process – the research, the ideas, the experimentation, the happy accidents and those moments when a painting suddenly comes to life.

Taking the leap and joining the Mastery Program with the Milan Art Institute was a huge decision. To be honest, it felt a little scary at the time, but it has turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever made. The programme has pushed me outside my comfort zone, taught me new techniques and helped me discover more about myself as an artist than I ever thought possible.

Most importantly, it made me realise that my dream of becoming a professional artist wasn't unrealistic after all.

By day, I still work for the local council, but my heart is firmly in the studio. I'm quietly (or perhaps not so quietly anymore!) working towards the day when I can simply introduce myself as an artist and make creativity my full-time profession. That is the dream.

One of the things I love most about creating art is finding beauty in unexpected places. Inspiration often appears when I'm least expecting it – a beautiful colour combination, an interesting texture, a patch of wildflowers, sunlight catching a landscape, or a fleeting moment during a walk.

Many of my ideas come from walks in the countryside with my two dogs, Ava, my Springer Spaniel, and Frankie, her daughter, a Sprocker Spaniel. While they're busy sniffing every interesting scent or finding the nearest puddle of mud to sit in, I'm often gathering inspiration from the colours, textures and beauty of the landscape around us. The changing seasons, wildflowers and natural surroundings regularly find their way into my paintings.

Colour plays a huge role in my work. I love adding unexpected pops of colour and creating pieces that feel uplifting, joyful and full of life. For me, colour has the power to change a mood, spark a memory and create a connection, and I hope my artwork does exactly that for the people who welcome it into their homes.

I believe art should be personal, enjoyable and accessible. Whether you're looking for an original painting, a print, a commissioned piece, or simply want to say hello, my inbox is always open.

Please feel free to get in touch via email or through my contact page for a friendly chat. I love connecting with fellow art lovers, collectors and anyone interested in following my creative journey.

Thank you for visiting my little corner of the internet and supporting independent artists. It genuinely means the world to me, and I hope you enjoy exploring my work as much as I enjoy creating it.
